|| When Jesus Comes Near It Changes Everything ||
Story narrated by Ian Greig with Bible readings by Alison Greig
John the Baptist was an Elijah-like character with a big message, for people to get right with God, ready to encounter Jesus.
The Bible readings for Advent Sunday highlight the role of John the Baptist but they remind us that everything changed in the presence of the King of kings, and it still does — for individuals facing difficulties, for churches struggling with decline or division, the answer is to make more room for Jesus to draw close!
This is based on these Bible readings set for Sunday, December 4, 2022, in the inter-denominational scheme widely followed by a variety of churches and chapels (Revised Common Lectionary):
Isaiah 11:1-10 – The coming Messiah will attract all the nations

Matthew 3:1-12 – The Lord and His new kingdom order is announced

Romans 15:4-13 – Equality is a kingdom value for us to live by

There's more, including a verse-by-verse Bible study John, last of the OT prophets, points to the kingdom with commentary, short reflections summarising and applying each passage and discussion questions for individuals or groups, on:
